Due West Festival

Funded by the Maribyrnong City Council Due West: Immersive Arts Festival 10 – 27 August 2017 asks participants to immerse themselves in the spirit and arts-culture of the west. A showcase of works from local artists, organisations and venues across multi-disciplinary art forms, Due West presents immersive arts experiences which allow participants to interact, engage and participate.

L2R Girl Gang – #whatwereallyreallywant

This video was funded by a Brimbank City Council​ Youth Grant with an aim to produce a local Brimbank version of the UN’s Viral video video, ‘What we really really want’. Our aim is to inspire and empower women in the community to be ambassadors for gender equality and to promote a culture of non violence towards women. #whatwereallyreallywant #l2rgirlgang

Good things happen when you team up with HoMie who provide brand new clothing, training and job opportunities to people experiencing homelessness. We met these guys about a year ago the The Funding Network event and have been dying to collaborate and dance in their fresh threads since. The Bowery Dance Project

The Bowery Dance Project was a 20 minute community dance piece that involved four local community groups including L2R, Culture Queenz, Bounczn and Wangal United Dance Group on behalf on the Boonwarrung Foundation. This project was produced and choreographed by Jacinda Richards alongside assistant choreographer Gilbert Douglas. Over 60 dancers from diverse backgrounds performed in this extraordinary colourful, vibrant and engaging community dance project. United through dance, the energy and inclusion is truly contagious.

On Saturday 15th of October we held our 4th annual L2R Experience at the Footscray Community centre with a SOLD OUT venue. A night celebrated through dance, diversity, community inclusion and connections.

A short film produced by Afrocat Productions and L2R members, Banjo Swan & Kevin Trang for the Sunshine Film Festival, secondary school division. This film is about bboys, breakdancing and how L2R is using Hip Hop culture and dance to unite young people and create positive vibes in the west! Congratulations boys on on a wonderful short film and helping us share the L2R Experience with the broader community.
