Our Impact in 2024

In 2024 L2R celebrated an incredible milestone while continuing to solidify our position as one of Australia’s most dynamic youth arts organisations! From a grassroots community group born out at Western English Language School in Braybrook, we've grown into a thriving community of children, young people, and artists celebrating hip hop and street dance across Melbourne’s West and beyond. As Australia’s only youth-focused hip hop and street dance not-for-profit and social enterprise, our impact continues to grow each year.

In 2024, we delivered 349 free dance classes across Melbourne's West and worked directly with 1843 program participants.

Our free dance classes aim to provide a safe, nurturing space for creativity, self-expression, confidence building and skills development, while cultivating a connection to community and peers.

In 2024, we proudly employed 48 young and emerging artists, directly paying them over $130,000. Additionally, through our Igniting Legends program, we supported four emerging artists through a 6-month paid internship to foster artistic skills and build employment pathways in the creative industries.

L2R aims to increase the capacity and learning of our young people by exploring community development and artistic leadership in a safe and supported environment.

We are very proud of the diversity and representation within our communities. From our youngest workshop participants to our professional teaching artists, nearly half come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

As a social enterprise, we use dance to uplift communities, promote authentic storytelling and champion diverse artists.

In 2024, we reached over half a million people through a variety of channels, including through 40 performances across festivals, events and corporate engagements.

At L2R, we believe dance has the transformative power to create healthier and more connected communities. We are led by the ambition of our young people and this underpins the moves we make on dance floors, in community and across Australia.
